Design Brief
Sofar Sounds is a website dedicated to creating unique music discovery experiences and reimagines the live event experience through curated, intimate performances in hundreds of cities around the world. The goal of this case study was to improve the user experience by making it easier for new users to find concert options in their local area.

Timeline

-
Make the user experience of search to book concert events for local music lovers. The success of this redesign will be measured by an increase in bookings.
-
We did some discovery research and surveyed 16 people to gather data. After that we conducted two in depth 15 min interviews.
-
Taking in our findings with my research, the proposed solution is to redesign the search bar and add more options and functions.
-
User research interviews were recorded and uploaded to Dovetail for analysis. Insights were organized and synthesized the data to see where we had some overlap user goals and pain points
Competitor Analysis
What opportunities could SoFar maximize on what others companies are not?" and "What are some clever user friendly choices could we incorporate into our design?"
User Interviews
We interviewed a few people to gain an understanding of the user demographic and what they might want out of a website like this.
Information Architecture
Next we took a look at the structure of our site and mapped out the most logical and user friendly routes to complete possible objectives for potential customers.
Priority Matrix
Conducting a cost/benefit analysis enables us to prioritize according to the calculated value the feature will provided based on it’s cost to ensure the impact is worthwhile. We analyzed our user interviews and compiled ideas for improvement that surfaced in interviews with prospective users of our identified demographic. We then put these ideas on a priority matrix chart and plotted them based on the impact and effort each idea would induce.
User Flow
Frustrations: There is no option to filter results when viewing reviews. Conducting the discovery research revealed: users really find value in recommendations of people they know and trust.
Solutions: Add Social Page, another avenue to view reviews and also more features while booking a reservation

Wireframing and Prototyping
After all of the user research conducted, we decided that it was time to start designing. We drew a couple of wireframes and got to work. After the wireframes then came the prototypes.
Hi-Fi Prototype
We them put our screens together and made a working prototype displaying our improved search system in Figma.
